For Geyser Road School, Flag day is the final big musical production before summer. One that never lacks for enthusiasm, whatever the weather. Of course, in over 20 years, the celebration has only been forced inside by the weather once. And it was not this year. This year, the flag was raised proudly outside, and saluted with songs sung passionately.
Veterans and those currently serving in the military in fact. Geyser's tradition of using flag day to honor those who have served to defend the flag and those who serve now continues. First came a free breakfast, with allowances so students can share that breakfast with their military parents or grandparents.
Then between songs for the flag and the nation, the school takes the time to name all the attending veterans and offer them certificates of thanks. With similar certificates going to the service personnel afterward.
