It's here! At last!
There's snow on the ground and our Wilton Preserve is a winter wonderful. Miles of trains for cross country skiing and snowshoeing - on February 8 the 9th Annual 8k Snowshoe race will be held. This race is a qualifier for the Nationals.
It's been a snowless year so far at the Preserve. It even forced rescheduling the Moonlight Ski to February 4
This is the most popular event of the year at the Preserve and parking has been increased. Wilton Buildings and Grounds say their crews will have the parking in top shape for the ski.
The Preserve is one of the hidden secrets of our area. With hills rolling or a little steep (the hill overlooking Delagan Pond) skiers, snowshoers, will find a variety of terrain for any taste.
For the Moonlight ski on February 4 you will find snowshoes available for rent in the warm-up hut by the Camp Saratoga parking lot.
You will also find luminaires lighting the trails and two bid roaring fires with hot chocolates served by volunteers.
